Process & Rules

How do you play?

Step 1:  Choose a team(s) of 5 current players from the ATP and / or the WTA tours.  This year, you put on your team(s) whoever you want.  No restrictions. 

Step 2:  email your team(s) rosters to Michael Hunston at hillmike666@yahoo.com.

Step 3:  Pay for your tea(s) by using PayPal (click here) or sending a check (address below)

Step 4:  watch your team(s) score points during the Australian Open, Sony Ericsson, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open, and collect your winnings because you are brilliant in selecting your teams!

 How does the scoring work?

The players from the following list will earn 3 pts for each match victory:

Nadal, Federer, Djokovic, Murray, Soderling, Berdych, Ferrer, Roddick, Verdasco, Youzhny, Wozniacki, Zvonareva, Clijsters, Williams, S., Williams, V., Stosur, Schiavone, Jankovic, Azarenka, Na

All remaining players will earn 5 pts for each match victory in the selected tournaments. 

For example, if your team consists of the following players and they all win their first round match of the 2011 Australian Open, the points earned would look like so:

Federer (3pts), Nadal (3pts), Henin (5pts), Ivanovic (5pts), Sharapova (5pts)

for a 1^st round total of 21 pts.

 What if one of my players does not play a certain tournament?

No worries.  If a player on your team withdraws for any reason before a tournament starts, we will replace that player with the next lowest ranking player for that tournament only.  The replacement player can only earn the points that your original player would have earned if they had played.  Your original player will be automatically restored to your team at the beginning of the next applicable tournament.

 Why play Fantasy Tennis?

Well, the Capital Classic Tournament chooses a charity to donate all unused proceeds to each year.  Our goal this year, besides running the best darn tournament in GLTA , is to raise at least $20,000 for the charity.  Your entry fees go towards that goal. 

Can I win anything?

Yes, there are cash prizes!   For each individual tournament, the team scoring the highest total number of points will win $30.  At the end of the US Open, the team that scored the highest cumulative number of points will win 25% of all of the entry fees.  Two years ago, we raised $1200.00 in Fantasy Tennis entry fees, giving the winner a $300 prize.  Way cool!

Teams only cost $10 each, so this is a very affordable and fun way of giving back to CTA and the community.

Log into the CTA website and click on the Fantasy Tennis link, which will direct you to PayPal

OR

Send a check made payable to CTA to Michael Hunston, 3323 Slade Ct, Falls Church, VA  22042

Please note that payment to CTA for fantasy tennis is not tax deductible.   CTA is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization, not a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.  Therefore, payments to CTA for membership fees, league and other participation fees, including fantasy tennis, are not deductible.
